A Welcome to Savannah,
America's Most Beautiful City
from Cima Star
If you're moving to Savannah for the first time, I'd like to welcome you with the open arms and heart so characteristic of this hospitable city by the river. Certainly, that is how I was welcomed, and it is one of the reasons I willingly succumbed to the siren song of Savannah temptations.
My first glimpse of this town was on a lovely Spring morning, when I walked out into a sweetly scented day of moss covered Live Oaks and magnificent Magnolias. Honeysuckle drifted through streets lined with handsome brick Federal townhouses and ornately decorated Queen Anne Victorians.
That night, I dined on fried oysters and jambalaya on River Street and watched giant cargo ships chug in and out of one of the largest ports in the nation. I eavesdropped shamelessly on the sweet, soft, slurry accents swirling through the cafe. I felt as though I'd come home, and though I didn't know it quite yet, I had.
Savannah has been my home now for nine lovely and exciting years. I hope your stay will be every bit as enchanting and that you will make this city of 24 squares your own.
