A few months ago, when the new law was passed banning people under 21 from all bars in Savannah, quite a hullabaloo went up about what the kids were going to do. Especially at issue were those who really didn’t want to drink anyway, but did enjoy a place to hang out with friends and listen to music, preferably live music.

The answer was right under our noses, but lots of people, including SavannahBest, just didn’t realize it. The Metro Coffee House is just that kind of place. The range of drinks is amazing, from an awesome selection of cafes and lattes, to the oh so trendy Bubble Tea, to Smoothies and a good many other liquid pleasantries, the Metro has about every non-alcoholic libation. Plus some tasty munchies and sandwiches.

And it’s fun. The large open space makes it easy to spy a pal who’s just walked in; tables are arranged for comfort, conversation and coziness. Opened about a year ago by a SCAD student, Marc Boese, who thought there ought to be a hang out for kids (and even those way, way past kid-hood!) to meet and network or just chat, eat and drink healthily, hear some great music, browse the internet, or just chill.

Close to all the SCAD dorms, it is also handy to incoming tourists who often head for the Visitors Center, and has become popular with some professionals, especially those in the Green fields.

Bands and special events come often (check out our SavannahBest Events Calendar), drawing big, happy crowds.
